In this video we’re breaking down the five best electric shavers in 2021. I’ve included options for every type of consumer. If you’re looking for a basic rotary shaver or an advanced foil shaver, I’ll have the product for you.
The fifth product on our list is the Philips Norelco 3800. This is our best budget electric shaver. The Philips Norelco 3800 offers several of the more traditional rotary shavers advantages but at a more affordable price with an updated design and stands out as a great budget option for about 65 dollars.
It comes with 5d pivot and flex heads which does a good job of following your face’s contours. Although it only moves in five directions versus 8 directions like the Philips series 9000 prestige which I’ll be checking out later in the video it still provides ample movement to give you a nice clean shave from the comfort cut blades.
It does require a few more passes on slightly different angles but using shaving cream or gel will help offset any skin irritations since the Norelco 3800 can be used both wet and dry. Plus, it’s a great way to reduce the tugging and pulling that you get with the more budget priced shavers especially if you don’t shave every day.
You’ll get about 50 minutes of shave time on a single charge so you’ll get about 20 shaves in. But it comes with a decent charging stand so you can conveniently charge your Norelco between uses so it’s always ready to go.
And for whatever reason if it runs out of battery a five-minute quick charge will give you enough juice to get you through one shave. The Norelco 3800 also has a pop-up trimmer for sideburns, goatees, mustaches and lighter beards which I generally think is easier to use than having to switch between attachments for convenience if you use it regularly.
Cleaning is a breeze simply rinse the shaver under the tap after each shave and that’s it. I think the Philips Norelco 3800 is a great option for men that want a no-nonsense rotary shaver that can be used both wet or dry or even in the shower at a great budget price.
The fourth product on our list is the Philips Norelco OneBlade Face + Body. This is our best electric shaver for styling. The Philips Norelco OneBlade Face + Body may resemble a traditional razor blade more than an electric shaver. It’s a nifty little shaver that’s quite versatile that you can pick up for about fifty dollars.
It features one blade technology with dual sided blades that move 200 times per second while the glide coating and rounded tips protect your skin from irritation. Giving you a pretty nice shave, you also get two blades one for your face and one for your body, so it gives you two in one functionality and versatility for either dry or wet shaves even in the shower.
It’s a popular trimmer shaver for men with beards that want to keep a stubble beard at a perfect balance between scruffy and groomed. Or you can even trim it all the way down by easily slipping on one of the various clip-on combs directly onto the blade. But since it doesn’t have a lift and cut mechanism to pull hairs into the cutting edge the shave won’t be as close to foil type shavers.
With the one Blade’s dual safety system you can trim edge and shave your facial hair in any direction and even go against the grain while feeling safe from razor burns and bumps. I really like how it feels holding it and find it’s much easier to maneuver letting you trim or shave with good precision.
It automatically curves along the contours of your face and is really good for facial styling including facial detailing, edging and lining up. Its portable size also makes it great for taking on trips letting you look your best even away from home. You’ll get about 60 minutes between charges so it’s ideal for taking on weekend getaways or short trips without worrying about keeping it charged.
The Philips Norelco OneBlade Face + Body is a versatile little shaver that will appeal to men that want a capable electric shaver that can be versatile enough for facial styling including facial detailing, edging, and lining up.
The third product on our list is the Panasonic Arc5. This is a great electric shaver for the money. The Panasonic Arc5 is a great wet and dry foil shaver that packs a lot of power to tackle even thick shaves for about 140. Its performance is almost comparable to the brawn series 9 razor which I’ll take a closer look at later in the video but the arc 5 is about half the price and provides a great shave with a smooth cut and is not harsh on your skin.
You’re going to get one of the closest shaves around and with 14 000 cutting cycles per minute it takes very little effort on your part. The head is quite a bit bigger than a lot of shavers in its class so it will take some getting used to, but I really like how easy it is to still maneuver it. The shaver head flexes side to side and back and forth to follow the contours of your face, neck and jaw the lcd display is clean and sleek giving you all the necessary status of the shaver at a glance.
The Arc five uses extremely thin foils and its lifttec foil system captures and holds while the nanotech stainless precision steel blades that are honed to an acute 30-degree bevel cut efficiently and cleanly at the root.
The five blade multiflex technology covers more of your face quickly so it takes fewer passes which is always good for the skin. The advanced active shave sensor can detect your beard’s density and will automatically adjust the cutting speed. You also get a precision pop-up trimmer which is easy to flip up and you can detail sideburns, mustaches or trim stubble before you shave.
The Panasonic Arc5 is a great choice for those that want a high-performance foil shaver with great features that can give you that close shave quickly and efficiently. It’s got a great build and it’s feature rich and I think it’s one of the best electric shavers for the money.
The second product on our list is the Philips Series 9000 Prestige. This is our best overall rotary electric shaver. For fans of rotary electric shavers, the Philips Series 9000 Prestige is probably the best around for about 280 dollars with a premium build and is feature packed to give you a great comfortable and extremely close shave.
The design is quite unique with its elongated shiny chrome body and the black led screen display for battery status giving it a nice aesthetic contrast. The three rotating heads use a unique nanotech blade system that is extra strong and extra sharp giving you that precision clean shave.
The Philips beard adapt sensors detect the density of your facial hair about 15 times per second and automatically make adjustments similar to the Arc five. For those that don’t always shave every day it’s a great feature, so you don’t have to fuss around with the shaver when your beard gets a little thicker.
You’re going to get a better shave and faster with the series 9000 prestige than the earlier Norelco 3800 although they both have three contouring heads. The series 9000 prestige moves in eight different directions compared to just five on the 3800.
There are also skin comfort rings integrated along the edge of the rings which helps the shaver glide more smoothly over your skin preventing any uncomfortable irritations in rashes. For accurate touch-ups around your beard sideburns and mustache you can remove three rotating heads and snap on the click on precision trimmer
The Series 9000 Prestige is also waterproof so you can use it dry or wet including while in the shower to save time on your morning rituals. The rechargeable battery will give you about 60 minutes of shave time and what I like is that you can use the shaver while it’s charging.
The Philips Series 9000 Prestige hits top marks for design comfort, battery life and shave performance making it one of the best rotary electric shavers around.
The first product on our list is the Braun Series 9 9390CC. This is our best overall foil electric shaver. The Braun 9390CC is probably one of the best foil electric shavers around for about three hundred dollars. It’s Braun’s most advanced shaver and although it’s a bit pricey I think it’s well worth the premium price.
Now unlike the Panasonic Arc 5 that has five blades the Braun comes with five shaving elements four of them are shaving blades that all work together to give you the most efficient shave. The two opti foils shaves hairs close to the skin. The hyper lift lifts and cuts flat lying hairs and the direct and cut trimmer captures hairs that grow in different directions.
In addition, there’s also a special skin guard element between the two cutting elements which prevents the blade from being harsh on your skin and helps to give you a more secure cut and better skin comfort.
The pivoting head gives you maximum flex around your facial contours and like the Arc 5 the synchrosonic technology of the bronze series 9 reads the density of the beard and adjust the power so whether you use it for dry or wet shaves and with and without foams or gels the bronze series 9 intelligently responds accordingly with 40 000 cutting actions even on two- or three-days stubble.
It also features 10 000 sonic vibrations which let the shaver glide smoothly over your skin giving you a really gentle shave. In addition to the great shave, what I really like is that the 9390CC comes with bronze charge and clean pro stand that automatically cleans lubricates charges and dries, so it’s good to go for the next shave. It’s super convenient.
The Braun 9390CC is loaded with advanced features and technology to give you a premium shaving experience and delivers consistently the closest shave in the shortest amount of time. And the convenience of the charging clean pro stand is ideal for hectic mornings.
